Belgrade, August 9 (RFE/RL) -- John Kornblum, the senior-most U.S. official on Bosnia-Herzegovina, held talks in Belgrade today with Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic.
The talks come just five days before a summit meeting in Geneva between U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher, Milosevic, Bosnia's President Alija Izetbegovic and Croatia's President Franjo Tudjman.
Kornblum arrived in the rump Yugoslav capital late last night from Sarajevo, where he failed to win a commitment from Bosnian Muslims and Croats to solidify the structures of the Muslim-Croat federation. No agreement was reached on the dissolution of the separatist Croat mini-state of Herceg-Bosna.
Meanwhile in the Bosnian Serb capital Pale last night, the top official for civilian affairs in Bosnia, Carl Bildt, criticized all sides in the Bosnia conflict over their behavior concerning the exhumation of mass graves.
After a five-hour meeting with the speaker of the Bosnian Serb parliament Momcilo Krajisnik, Bildt said he is not satisfied with how either Republika Srpska or the Moslem-Croat Federation are dealing with the mass graves issue.
Bildt's said there can be no trade in bodies, dead or alive. He accused both sides of what he terms disgusting attitudes and politicizing the issue.
Federation authorities have barred investigators from exhuming graves at Glamoc and Ozren in western Bosnia. Republika Srpska authorities have responded by a ban on mass grave digging near Srebrencica.
