Bishkek, 26 August 1996 (RFE/RL) -- The foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are scheduled to meet today in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek.
RFE/RL's Kyrgyzstan correspondent reports that the ministers will meet with Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev, as well as with the prime minister and the chairmen of both chambers of the Kyrgyz parliament.
The ministers are expected to discuss the formation of a joint peace-keeping battalion, the situations in Tajikistan and Afghanistan, and preparations for the upcoming fourth summit of Turkic-speaking nations.
