Poland: Defense Minister Dobrzanski Begins U.S. Visit

Washington, 28 August 1996 (RFE/RL) - Poland's Defense Minister Stanislaw Dobrzanski is scheduled today to begin a week-long visit to the United States.

A spokesman at the Polish Embassy in Washington says Dobrzanski is to hold a number of meetings during his visit, including one today with U.S. Defense Secretary William Perry.

RFE/RL's correspondent in Warsaw said earlier this week that Dobrzanski's talks will focus on European security, including NATO, and reforms in Poland's Armed Forces.

A spokesman at the U.S. Defense Department says Dobrzanski will be greeted at the Pentagon today with full military honors. The spokesman could not provide details of what Dobrzanski and Perry will discuss.

The Polish minister is also scheduled to meet with other U.S. officials and visit America's military academies.
