Washington, 28 August 1997 (RFE/RL) - Bulgaria has received the latest drawing from its $657 million stand-by loan from the International Monetary Fund, according to a spokeswoman at IMF headquarters in Washington.
The tranche of about $85 million was released late last week to further help Sofia implement the economic reform and stabilization program set up earlier this year in coordination with the fund. Part of the program included the launch of the currency board form of central bank in Bulgaria.
