Tajikistan: Highway Improves Relations With China



Kyiv, 9 May 1998 (RFE/RL) - The head of Tajik President Emomali Rakhmonov's administration said today that relations between his country and China have improved since the recent completion of a highway link between the two countries.

The chief of the presidential administration told our correspondent that his country's relations with China have always been good, but that the Karakul highway in the northeast is accelerating ties with Beijing.

He made his remarks in Kyiv on the sidelines of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's annual board meeting.
