Belgrade, 12 May 2001 (RFE/RL) -- Yugoslavia's state news agency Tanjug says that a Yugoslav army court has indicted 193 soldiers over their actions against Kosovo Albanians during the 1998-1999 war in the province, including crimes against the civilian population. Military judge Colonel Vukadin Milojevic -- quoted by Tanjug -- said the court, based in Nis, mostly indicted Serb soldiers mobilized from the reserve who were making up the majority of forces operating in Kosovo at the time.
Milojevic said that an officer and six soldiers, all from the reserve, were investigated for crimes against the population. He said the officer had been acquitted after an inquiry but the six reservists had been referred to a civilian court for trial.
