Macedonia: Interior Minister Resigns From Security Body

Skopje, 20 June 2001 (RFE/RL) -- Macedonia's interior minister has resigned from the cross-party security body overseeing the country's peace plan. Ljube Boskovski said he is leaving the Coordination Body for Crisis Management because the organization is too ready to give in to what he considers unreasonable Albanian demands and to block a crackdown on rebels. Boskovski will retain his government post.

Macedonian Prime Minister Ljubco Georgievski told Macedonian television last night that talks at the cross-party body were not going well.

The cross-party body was set up as part of President Boris Trajkovski's package of proposals to restore peace in the county and is charged with overseeing military aspects of the peace plan.
