Baghdad, 30 November 2003 (RFE/RL) -- The U.S. military in Iraq says that two U.S. soldiers have been killed and one wounded in attack on their convoy west of Baghdad. A statement said gunmen ambushed the convoy yesterday near Ramadi with small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades.
The latest attack on U.S. military personnel came the same day as seven Spanish intelligence agents and two Japanese diplomats were killed in separate incidents.
The prime ministers of Spain and Japan say they remain undeterred after those killings. Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar talked to U.S. President George W. Bush by phone and assured him of his continued support for joint military operations in Iraq. Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said Japan will not give in to terrorism.
