Ufa Vets Not Joining Moscow Protests
Ufa veterinarians are not supporting the protests of their Moscow colleagues, who are campaigning for the legalization of ketamine, a painkiller for animals, Vsya Ufa TV reported on 22 July. Russia's State Drugs Control Committee has a right to arrest any vet using ketamine after it was included in an official list of illegal drugs. The staff of the Ufa city veterinary clinic told Vsya Ufa that they never use ketamine and rely on alternative anesthetics. The Ufa vets reportedly added that they would not join their Moscow colleagues' strike because they had recently received their salaries for the last four months.
