Tatarstan's Speaker In Argentina, Brazil
Tatarstan's State Council chairman, Farid Mukhametshin, arrived in Brasilia on 24 May as a member of an official delegation headed by Federation Council Chairman Yegor Stroyev that is on a visit to Argentina and Brazil, Tatar-inform reported. The visit's schedule includes meetings with the presidents of both Argentina and Brazil as well as the heads of the respective parliaments. The delegation is due to sign a cooperation agreement between with the Senate of Argentina's National Congress.
TU-214s To Be Leased By Khabarovsk Company
The first deputy economics and industry minister, Anvar Karimov, told a State Council session that two TU-214 airplanes produced by the Kazan Gorbunov air industrial association will be leased by the Khabarovsk air company Daliavia, Tatar-inform reported on 24 May. He said an agreement on the project was recently signed by the Tatarstan government, the Khabarovsk krai administration, the Gorbunov air industrial association, the Khabarovsk air company Daliavia, and the Moscow joint stock Finance Leasing Company founded by the Zenit bank and Tatarstan's leading oil company Tatneft. Some $32 million is reportedly needed to finance the project. Karimov said the expected profit is over $10 million. He said 11 more planes are currently being produced at the Gorbunov plant and it is able to manufacture a total of 24 machines a year.
Canadian Firm To Develop Oil Deposit In Tatarstan
The Canadian International Academy of Informatization, which has a branch in Tatarstan, won a tender to develope the Kukmor-Kovalinsk oil deposit in Tatarstan, Tatar-inform reported on 24 May. The president of the academy, Azat Vartanyan, told the news agency that the project received the status of being a UN project according to an agreement signed on 12 May within the framework of the Program of UN Development. Vartanyan said such a status gives the project significant privileges. The total deposit is thought to be 50 million tons of oil. Vartanyan said 30 percent of the extracted oil will be exported, and some of it will be processed in Bashkortostan. Tatarstan's share in the profit was not reported.
Tatenergo Privatization Postponed
Ilshat Fardiev, the general manager of Tatarstan's energy monopoly Tatenergo, said that the company will be privatized only after its financial conditions improve, Tatar-inform reported on 24 May. Fardiev made his comments at a session of the board of the company Volgaenergo. Fardiev said the privatization program of Tatenergo has fully readied. He said the Cabinet of Ministers recently approved the program for improving financial conditions and stabilizing the activity of Tatenergo. Preparing an agreement on energy regulation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan is part of the program.
