Moldova's Cupcui Orphanage

Vasilica Bejan draws water from a well. While life is hard at home, he's happier there than in the orphanage.

Valentina, Vasilica's mother, was told five years ago the state could raise her son better.

Maria Buza, the director of the Cupcui orphanage, says many people depend on the orphanage for their livelihood.

Many of the children in the orphanage say they are also looking forward to going home.

The UNICEF/EU program hopes to place a fourth of Moldova's orphans with families, but money has become scarce.
