A former member of Japan's Aum Shinrikyo cult has turned himself in to police after more than 16 years on the run.
Police said Makoto Hirata gave himself up at a police station in Tokyo on New Year's Eve.
He had been in hiding since the cult's 1995 sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway system, in which 13 people were killed.
Hirata was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to kidnap the brother of a follower of the cult.
According to the BBC, Japanese authorities say that the man he is accused of abducting died after being given an injection at a commune owned by the cult.
Two other members are still being sought by police. Nearly 200 Aum Shinrikyo members have been convicted. Thirteen are awaiting execution.
