NATO troops are training their allies in the Afghan Air Force to take over some of the alliance’s duties as the coalition prepares to withdraw from Afghanistan by the end of 2014. In a video released by NATO’s press service, Afghan pilots receive instruction from alliance officers at the Shindand Air Base in Herat Province. The Afghan Air Force is expected to reach full operational capacity by 2017. (NATO TV)
