Greece's state broadcaster shut down abruptly on June 11 just hours after the government decided to close it to save costs and reopen a leaner channel. The TV news bulletin went to black in Athens with a message reading "no signal" as the presenters were in the middle of speaking. Thousands of supporters protested outside the TV headquarters. Opposition party politicians condemned the decision. (Reuters)
