Police detained dozens of people taking part in a silent protest in Istanbul's Taksim Square early on June 18. The silent protest which began late on June 17 when a lone man, reportedly Erdem Gunduz, stood still outside the Ataturk Cultural Center soon drew large crowds of sympathizers and admirers. But the protest was broken up by police, who escorted the silent protesters to a nearby van before coming out in full force on Taksim Square. (Reuters video)
