Russian Police Detain Activists Marking Anniversary Of Czechoslovak Protest
Natalya Gorbanevskaya (left) was one of the eight participants in the original 1968 protest. She appeared at the Moscow protest on August 25 but was not arrested. She is with Sergei Sharov-Delaunay, opposition leader and cousin of Soviet-era writer and dissident Vadim Delaunay, who participated in the original 1968 protest.
Gorbanevskaya, now 77, spent two years in a Soviet psychiatric prison for her role in the 1968 demonstration.
