Zmitser Dashkevich, the leader of Belarus's unregistered Young Front political movement, has been released from prison after serving more than 2 1/2 years on assault charges. Amnesty International had designated Dashkevich a "prisoner of conscience" who was jailed for his political views. Dashkevich's relatives and colleagues met him outside the prison in the western city of Hrodna early on August 28. (RFE/RL's Belarus Service)
