Militants Attack U.S. Consulate In Herat

Taliban militants launched an attack early on September 13 near the U.S. Consulate in the western Afghan city of Herat. Police said two members of the Afghan security forces were killed, as were five of the attackers. A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the attack. (Reuters)
