Doctor Who Helped Find Bin Laden Demands Rights

Pakistani doctor, Shakeel Afridi, helped the CIA find Osama Bin Laden.

PESHAWAR, Pakistan -- The jailed Pakistani doctor who helped the CIA find Osama Bin Laden is seeking better prison conditions.

Samiullah Afridi, a lawyer for Shakeel Afridi, said on December 1 that his client sent him a letter outlining his demands and grievances.

Afridi, incarcerated in a prison in the northwestern city of Peshawar, has asked for access to his lawyer and regular meetings with family members.

He has also asked for more security in the prison.

Afridi was arrested after U.S. Special Forces killed Bin Laden in May 2011.

He was sentenced last year to 33 years in prison for membership in the outlawed militant group Lashkar-e-Islam, a charge Afridi denies.

His sentence was overturned by a court in August.

A new trial has been ordered.
