Belarusian Oppositionist Granted Asylum In Czech Republic

Ales Mikhalevich, a former opposition presidential candidate in Belarus, has been granted asylum in the Czech Republic. He had been imprisoned by Belarusian authorities in December, and says he was tortured in prison. Mikhalevich spoke to the Belarusian community in Prague on Freedom Day, an unofficial holiday observed by the Belarusian opposition.
