KABUL -- Pakistan's ambassador to Afghanistan has told RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan that he expects a new transit agreement between the two countries to be signed before the end of this year.
Mohammad Sadiq said two previous meetings this year have yielded better results than expected and that a third session in Islamabad next month could finalize the agreement.
The previous transit agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan was signed in 1965.
The Pakistani and Afghan presidents signed a memorandum of understanding on the agreement during a visit to Washington earlier this year.
