Blast Hurts Guards In Iran Jail Escape Bid

Attackers fired a rocket-propelled grenade at a jail in southwest Iran today in an apparent bid to help prisoners break out.

Iranian media reported that three guards and up to 16 others were injured in the attack in the city of Ilam, in the province of the same name bordering Iraq.

Police colonel Aziz Abadi said three prisoners managed to escape, but that one of them was later recaptured.
