Officials say a suicide bomber killed at least 20 civilians at a bazaar in the main town of Afghanistan's central Uruzgan Province today.
Provincial governor Juma Gul Himat said over a dozen people were wounded in the blast, which took place in the town of Dihrawud.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai issued a statement condemning the attack, saying it was un-Islamic to target "defenseless civilians."
Separately, NATO says a suicide bomber today killed one police officer and wounded five other people in neighboring Helmand Province.
