MOSCOW -- Communist Party deputies will return to the State Duma, ending a week-long walkout to protest alleged falsification of the country's October 11 local elections, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.
Party leader Gennady Zyuganov told journalists on October 20 that the Communists will not boycott consideration of the federal budget for 2010-12. Zyuganov said deputies will be in the Duma to discuss the legislation on October 21.
Deputies representing the Communist Party, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), and the A Just Russia party walked out of the Duma on October 14.
The LDPR and A Just Russia returned to parliament after President Dmitry Medvedev agreed to meet and discuss their requests and demands.
Earlier on October 20, Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov said the salaries of Communist deputies will be docked for each day they failed to appear.
