Chechen TV-Radio Corporation Starts Satellite Broadcasting

GROZNY -- The Chechen television and radio company "Grozny" will begin broadcasting by satellite to several parts of the world on December 20.

A "Grozny" journalist told RFE/RL's North Caucasus Service that test signals for the corporation's new project have been tested in some European countries.

The major goal of the project is "to change the negative image of the Chechen Republic in the world."

"Grozny" programming is expected to be available via satellite in all parts of Russia, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia.
