PERM -- At least 100 protesters picketed the local Duma today in the Russian city of Perm to demand cuts in utility fees, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.
The protest was organized by Communist Party activists. The protesters also demanded the immediate resignation of the regional governor, the Perm City Mayor, and regional Duma deputies.
The protest organizers told journalists that the recent increase in utility fees will lead to enormous fines as local residents are not able to pay them.
They argued that utility tariffs should be calculated based on the average monthly wage.
