EU Confirms Receipt Of Iranian Nuke Proposal

BRUSSELS (Reuters) -- The European Union has received Iranian proposals, a spokeswoman for EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said, as Tehran came under renewed Western pressure to swiftly engage in "meaningful" talks to resolve the dispute over its nuclear program.

"We have received the Iranian proposal. It has been handed to an adviser of Mr. Solana by the Iranian ambassador. It is currently being studied," the spokeswoman said.

"The package of proposals was formally submitted by [Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr] Mottaki," Iran's English language Press TV had said in a breaking news headline earlier in the day.

The package addressed "various global issues," it added.
