Fan Trouble Dooms Euro Qualifier Match Between Serbia, Italy

Serbia football fans ahead of the scheduled game with Italy in Genoa on October 12

A Euro 2012 qualifier between Serbia and Italy has been suspended less than seven minutes into the contest after crowd trouble.

The referee stopped the match in Genoa after only six minutes played after Serbian fans threw flares on the field. The start of the match had already been delayed by nearly an hour due to similar incidents.

Earlier, Serbia's goalkeeper, Vladimir Stojkovic, pulled out of the match on the way to the stadium after apparently being abused by his own supporters.

Italian fans booed the Serbian national anthem before kickoff.
