One Dead, Dozens Injured In Southern Iran Earthquake

Iranian media reports said one person was killed and dozens were injured in a 5.8-magnitude earthquake in southern Iran.

State media said the tremor, which struck shortly before midnight, was followed by 11 aftershocks.

A third of buildings in four villages on the border of the southern provinces of Fars and Hormuzgan were damaged.

Earthquakes are common in Iran, which is located on several major fault lines.

In the worst recent quake, some 30,000 people were killed when a quake devastated the southeastern city of Bam.
