Gunmen Kill 25 People In Iraqi Village

Gunmen dressed in military uniforms have shot dead 20 men and five women from families linked to an anti-Al-Qaeda militia in a southern district of Baghdad.

News agencies quoted unidentified Interior Ministry officials as saying the gunmen attacked three houses in the Sunni village of Sufia on April 2.

The victims were handcuffed and shot in the head.

Baghdad security spokesman Major General Qasim al-Musawi said some of the victims were members of the Iraqi security forces and others of the Sons of Iraq or Awakening Councils, former Sunni insurgents who joined the Iraqi government and U.S. forces to fight Al-Qaeda.

Musawi added that seven handcuffed victims were found alive.
