The head of the Iranian parliament's Budget, Planning, and Accounts Commission has said that more than $1 billion in oil revenues are missing from the state treasury, Radio Farda reports.
In a commission report to parliament, Mohammad-Mehdi Mofatteh said that $1.058 billion from oil exports in the 2006 fiscal year was not paid to the treasury.
Parliament speaker Ali Larijani said afterwards that "there are important items in this report that indicate the government's failure to comply with the law."
Larijani called on the Supreme Audit court to investigate the matter of the missing money and report its findings to parliament.
