Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that the United States was a "really arrogant power" and that Iran will "not be deceived by its apparent reconciliatory behavior."
Khamenei was quoted by state radio as also saying that Iran will reject any dialogue if its outcome is pre-determined by Washington.
U.S. President Barack Obama has said he is ready to deal directly with Iran, something his predecessor largely rejected.
Washington cut diplomatic ties with Tehran shortly after the 1979 Islamic revolution when radical students seized the U.S. embassy in Tehran and took 52 Americans hostage. Iran marks the 30th anniversary of the embassy seizure on November 4.
Khamenei's comments also come with Iran and the United States at odds over Iran's nuclear program. The West fears the program is a cover to make bombs, which Iran denies.
