Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has denied the charge that Tehran seeks nuclear weapons.
Khamenei said in a speech broadcast by state television that Iran "fundamentally rejects nuclear weapons and prohibits the production and the use of nuclear weapons."
The comments by Khamenei came after U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said last week that Iran must answer "head on" concerns about its nuclear program at the meeting with world powers.
The talks between Iran and the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France, and Germany are scheduled for October 1.
