BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev has sacked Foreign Minister Ednan Karabaev and offered the post to his former chief of staff, Medet Sadyrkulov.
But Sadyrkulov told RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service that he has not yet decided whether to accept the new post.
Sadyrkulov resigned as head of Bakiev's presidential staff on January 8.
Meanwhile, Kyrgyz political analyst Mars Sariev says leading opposition politicians with experience in diplomacy and international affairs, such as former Foreign Minister Roza Otunbaeva and former Kyrgyz Ambassador to India Bakyt Beshimov, would serve well in the post.
Both Otunbaeva and Beshimov represent the opposition Social Democratic Party in the Kyrgyz parliament.
But Otunbayeva has said no one from her party will join the current government.
