Australian luger Hannah Campbell-Pegg is auctioning her Olympic race suit on eBay to raise money for the family of Georgian athlete Nodar Kumaritashvili.
Twenty-one-year-old Kumaritashvili died after crashing during a practice run on February 12, just hours before the opening ceremony of the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
Campbell-Pegg has said she couldn’t bare to look at curve 16 on the Olympic luge track where the deadly incident took place.
She had asked for extra time to quell her emotions and fight back tears before completing two circuits down the luge course during the women's race.
The 28 year old is Australia’s only luge representative at the Vancouver games.
Kumaritashvili’s death has prompted Olympic organizers to shorten the luge venue to cut the speed.
The athlete was buried in his native Bakuriani, a small ski resort town, where a street has recently been named after him.
