TEHRAN, July 15, 2010 -- Iranian state news agency IRNA quoted a top medical official as saying that two explosions outside a Shi'ite mosque in southeastern Iran killed more than 20 people today.
Fariborz Rashedi, the head of the emergency services of Sistan-Baluchestan province said that "Two explosions in front of the Zahedan Jamia mosque left more than 100 wounded and more than 20 martyred."
The blasts took place in Zahedan, the restive capital of the province.
Deputy Interior Minister Ali Abdollahi earlier said it was a "suicide operation."
The Sistan-Baluchestan province, which borders Pakistan, has been hit in the past by attacks blamed on the Jundollah Sunni Muslim rebel group.
