Nine bronze statues have been stolen in Tehran in recent weeks in what authorities have said is serial thievery.
Fars news agency reports the thefts have prompted city officials to stop erecting new statues in the Iranian capital.
One of the stolen statues was of famous Iranian poet Shahriar, while others were of artisans, thinkers, and heroes of Iran's 1905 constitutional revolution.
Mojtaba Musavi, an official from the Tehran municipality, suggested that the thefts may have been committed to procure the bronze for melting down and resale.
