BISHKEK -- About 20 people have staged a protest action in front of the house of a leader of the Kyrgyz opposition, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.
Talking to RFE/RL, Aygul Tekebaeva, wife of Omurbek Tekebaev, the leader of the Ata Meken (Fatherland) party, said the protesters were brought in front of her house in a bus.
According to Tekebaeva, the protesters threatened her husband using bad language. Then the same bus took them away, she says.
In an interview with RFE/RL, Tekebaev says he believes the Kyrgyz authorities organized the action in an effort to impose psychological pressure on him.
The Kyrgyz opposition is planning to hold mass protests agains the government later this week.
Meanwhile, presidential press secretary Almas Turdumamatov tells RFE/RL that it is not in the Kyrgyz authorities' interests to pressure any opposition leader. On the contrary, he said, the government is doing all it can to establish understanding and stability in the country.
