NOVOSIBIRSK, Russia -- Dozens of protesters in the Russian city of Novosibirsk are demanding the release of jailed artist Artem Loskutov, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.
Loskutov was arrested on May 15 and accused of drug possession.
Police in Novosibirsk also suspect him of organizing mass disorder and extremist activities.
Loskutov's colleagues say the charges against him are politically motivated.
Loskutov is known as one of the creators of the artistic, self-expression performances called "monstration."
On June 3, the Novosibirsk Oblast Court is expected to consider an appeal by Loskutov's lawyer to release him from pretrial detention.
