Russian President Continues Visit To China

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin, in China to accompany President Dmitry Medvedev, says an agreement supplying Russian natural gas to China is expected to be signed next year because "Russia is ready to meet China's full demand in gas."

Medvedev and his delegation has begun its second day of a three-day visited focused on energy cooperation.

Chinese President Hu Jintao and Medvedev held a joint news conference in Beijing today, where Hu told reporters that "the two sides expressed the intention on deepening strategic actions in international and regional affairs, protecting the balance and stability of international strategy, promoting the complete recovery of global economic crisis, and healthy and stable growth of the world economy."

Russia is the world's biggest energy producer and China is the world's largest energy consumer, overtaking the United States last year.

Hu and Medvedev are scheduled to mark the completion of a China-Russia oil pipeline at a ceremony later today.
