BISHKEK -- A suspect in the murder of a Kyrgyz parliament deputy is in a debilitated state and unable to speak, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.
Altynbek Itibaev has officially been accused of killing parliament deputy Sanjar Kadyraliev, who was shot dead near his home on April 14.
Itibaev's lawyer, Toktogul Abdiev, says that his client is weakened and barely able to move in his jail cell. He says his client was in good condition when he last spoke to him on May 8.
Abdiev said he has sent an official complaint to the Prosecutor-General's Office demanding an immediate investigation into Itibaev's unexplained health problems.
Abdiev says there are some people who would be interested in Itibaev's death.
