Suspected U.S. Missile Attacks Target Militants In Northwest Pakistan

Pakistani security officials say two suspected U.S. drone attacks killed at least eight suspected militants in Pakistan's northwestern tribal belt.

The officials said the missile strikes occurred near Miranshah, the main town in the North Waziristan tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

The first missile attack blew up the vehicle the suspected militants were traveling in.

No further details were immediately available about the second strike. The identity of those killed was not immediately known.

North Waziristan is a stronghold for Taliban and foreign militants who launch attacks on international forces across the border in Afghanistan.
