Authorities in Thailand have extended the curfew in Bangkok and 23 other provinces for three more nights following the deadly army assault on antigovernment protesters in the capital.
The army says the curfew will be in force through May 23.
The curfew was imposed May 19 after widespread rioting in central Bangkok following an army crackdown on an antigovernment encampment.
Fires were reported still burning at more than 20 buildings in Bangkok today amid the unrest that has left at least 50 people dead and hundreds of others injured.
The protesters, who include left-wing activists, pro-democracy campaigners, and supporters of ousted former leader Thaksin Shinawatra are demanding new elections, saying the current government is illegitimate.
