TBILISI -- Three people were seriously injured in an apparent attack against demonstrators in Tbilisi on June 15, RFE/RL's Georgian Service reports.

Activists from several Georgian NGOs were holding a demonstration in front of the UN Office in Tbilisi to protest the UN's new resolution on the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict.

The demonstrators were blocking a main street near the UN Office when a car suddenly hit them, injuring three women.

Witnesses told RFE/RL that the car's driver exited the car armed with a gun and started shooting into the air.

One of the injured is reportedly in very serious condition.

Georgian opposition leaders and activists are demanding that authorities thoroughly investigate the incident.
