Nearly 180 people have been reported killed in Indonesia after a tsunami and volcanic eruption hit the island nation.
Officials said more than 150 people were killed and 400 were missing after a three-meter tsunami wave hit the Mentawai islands area, west of Sumatra, following a 7.7-magnitude earthquake late on October 25.
Rescuers continue to search for survivors in the remote islands where the tsunami swept away at least 10 villages.
Meanwhile, officials say at least 28 people have been killed and scores injured from ash, hot gas, and debris after the eruption of Mount Merapi on the island of Java, about 1,300 kilometers east of the tsunami zone.
Indonesia sits on the Pacific Ocean's so-called Ring Of Fire, where the meeting of continental plates causes high volcanic and seismic activity.
