The Turkish prime minister has told businessmen that Turkey wants to triple its trade volume with Iran within five years.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Raimi oversaw a meeting of the Turkish-Iranian Business Forum today that brought together over a hundred businessmen in Istanbul.
Rahimi told the forum that his country was working to remove all trade barriers with Turkey.
Trade between the two countries has grown dramatically in recent years, reaching $10 billion in the last year, up from $1 billion in 2000.
The growing trade ties between Turkey and Iran come at a time when Iran is facing international sanctions over its controversial nuclear program.
