Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani said on April 12 that world powers must accept Iran as a nuclear power.
Larijani made the comments after earlier this week the five permanent members of the UN Security Council -- Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States -- plus Germany had offered to hold talks with Iran over its nuclear program.
Larijani told parliament that the "5+1" has no reason to refuse Iran nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, according to terms of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
The international community has called on Iran to stop its uranium-enrichment program, which they suspect is for non-peaceful purposes. Tehran denies the charge.
