Officials say 11 people, including five militants, were killed December 8 after a suicide bomber and gunmen stormed a district police chief's office in southern Afghanistan. A police spokesman said the attack, in Maywand district, began with a suicide car bombing followed by an hour-long fire fight. Taliban attacks have been increasing as Western forces prepare to pull most combat troops out of Afghanistan by the end of the year. (RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan)
