BAGHLAN, Afghanistan -- Officials say an Afghan police officer and two members of his family have been shot dead by militants in northern Baghlan Province.
The police officer, his son, and a daughter were traveling to a village in Borka district when they came under attack.
District head Mohammad Rajab told RFE/RL that the officer responded by opening fire at the insurgents, but was gunned down after three hours of resistance.
Security forces are frequently targeted by insurgents in Baghlan and elsewhere in Afghanistan.
