Afghan officials and NATO have expressed concern over the alarming rise in insider attacks, which have killed 47 NATO-led forces personnel this year.

NATO says about one-quarter of so-called green-on-blue attacks can be attributed to enemy combatants infiltrating Afghan forces. Many, they say, are due to misunderstandings, cultural differences, and Afghan soldiers harboring personal grudges against some of those training the 350,000-strong Afghan National Army and police force.
